Steamer Lane
“Small but Glassy, Lane Worth a Look”
Steamer Lane is sitting at a modest 3 feet this morning with that south wind keeping things glassy, which is about the best thing going for a swell this size. The 6-second period isn't doing the Lane any favors since shorter-interval NW windswell tends to back off on the outside and give you some mushy, punchy walls rather than the long open faces this place is known for. That said, the rising tide through mid-morning and clean conditions make this a decent call for intermediate surfers who want to work on their turns without getting worked, and the afternoon bump to 3.5 feet could sharpen things up a bit before the sea breeze fills in. If you're an experienced Lane surfer waiting for something to write home about, this probably isn't it, but if you just want a fun, low-consequence morning in the water, it's there for you.
