Workshop on Conscientious Objections
At 1 pm on Sunday December 15 the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Santa Cruz County (6401 Freedom Blvd) offers a free public workshop, centered on intergenerational dialogue, on early documentation of claims to conscientious objection in the event of a draft. This event responds to today's attempt by the White House to replace the currently unserviceable Selective Service list with a new list that will rely on automatic rather than voluntary registration and use new data systems to track potential inductees, effective December 18. The workshop follows a 10am service that responds to this and other forms of growing militarism by rededicating Veterans Day to its original (Armistice Day) purpose: promoting world peace.
