SPCA Rescue Readers

Rescue Readers is a special opportunity to read bedtime stories to our shelter animals while helping them feel calm, comfortable, and cared for as they settle in for the night. Kids can choose to read to dogs or cats and enjoy a cozy 30-minute session filled with stories, quiet companionship, and plenty of animal love. It’s also a wonderful way for young readers to build confidence and practice their reading skills with a completely non-judgmental audience, our animals are happy to listen to every story! Why Join Rescue Readers? • Build reading confidence in a fun, relaxed environment • Help shelter animals feel calm and comfortable at bedtime • Practice kindness, empathy, and gentle animal interactions • Make it a special family or friend experience • Create meaningful memories while supporting animals in need Each 30-minute session accommodates two people, one child reader and one accompanying adult. Choose your preferred animal group and the session time that works best for you. Rescue Readers events take place at different times throughout the Fall and Spring from 5:30pm – 7:00 pm, so there are always more opportunities to join us!
