Research Lunch & Learn: Research cybersecurity and compliance attestation
Federal agencies and research sponsors are increasingly requiring institutions to attest to and provide evidence of research security compliance. The stakes go beyond a single grant: a security incident can trigger a review of that attestation, and granting agencies can pause or revoke funding across an entire program, not just one award. Join Chief Information Security Officer Brian Hall for a discussion of what attestation requirements mean for UCSC, where research security risks most commonly arise, the role researchers and research staff play in helping the campus meet and keep meeting these compliance obligations, and options we are exploring for researchers to use environments that are secure by default. Join us on November 12, 2026, 12-1 p.m. (note different date due to holiday). Join: Zoom link for this session.
