With over a decade of carving out a sound that belongs entirely to them, La Luz’s blend of surf noir, garage rock, and haunted psychedelia wraps listeners in layered harmonies somewhere between doo-wop and folk. Guitarist and songwriter Shana Cleveland, the band's founding member, is one of indie rock's most original voices. Through metaphysical poetry, she takes listeners to rural Californian landscapes and science fiction dimensions. La Luz’s most recent album, News of the Universe, is ambitious, brutal, and blissful. It’s not every day someone can claim they’ve seen SpongeBob SquarePants, Adventure Times’ Ice King and Rick and Morty’s Squanchy front a rock ‘n roll band. However, this Friday that’s exactly what is going down at the Crepe Place with Tom Kenny & the Hi Seas. When he’s not singing the blues, Kenny is the award-winning voice behind all of those characters. Added to the mix are The Damselles, a girl group trio that adds the sultry behind Kenny’s sounds for a throwback to real, true-blue rock ‘n roll.
