π Land of Medicine Buddha

πΏ A rare opportunity to learn from a master with more than five decades of Buddhist study, practice, and teaching. This September, Land of Medicine Buddha is deeply honored to welcome Khen Rinpoche Lobsang Wangdu for an extraordinary three-week teaching series. For those unfamiliar with Tibetan Buddhism, teachers of Rinpocheβs generation and depth of training are becoming increasingly rare. He spent more than 20 years immersed in the rigorous study of Buddhist philosophy, debate, and meditation at Sera Je Monastic University, followed by advanced Vajrayana training at Gyume Tantric College. Today, he serves as Abbot of SegyΓΌ Tantric College. What makes this visit especially precious is the chance to encounter these teachings directly from someone who has devoted his entire life to studying, practicing, and preserving them within a living lineage. You do not need to be Buddhist or an experienced practitioner to benefit. Across three weeks, Rinpoche will guide us through some of Buddhismβs most essential teachings, including Lamrim, emptiness, bodhicitta, Buddha nature, mind training, and transforming anger, culminating in a White Tara Long Life Empowerment and retreat, with the opportunity to receive or renew the Bodhisattva Vows. π Whether you are simply curious about Buddhism, looking for practical wisdom for everyday life, or have practiced for many years, this is an exceptional opportunity to experience these teachings at their source. β¨ Join us for one evening, a weekend retreat, or the full three-week journey.

Please join us during this retreat weekend where you can discover self-care exercises, partner bodywork, and Nine Principles of Harmony. There are four relationships in our lives. By paying attention to them, we can bring more balance and harmony to everything we do. The first two relationships, our relationship to our body and our relationship to the outer world (job, money, friends, family), usually take most of our energy. The fourth relationship, our relationship to Existence, connects us to the greater meaning of life. To bridge these, Breema introduces us to a third relationshipβthe relationship to yourself. Through the third relationship, we connect mind and body, and learn to respond to life in ways that bring more harmony and balance to ourselves and those around us. In this weekend workshop, we will learn Breema bodywork and Self-Breema exercises, to acquire practical tools that can enable us to bring Breemaβs harmonizing philosophy and principles into daily life. You can participate in the entire weekend, or attend just one or more of the four workshops. Pre-registration is recommended. Call or email the Breema Center for more information. Continuing Education may be available for this event. Visit breema.info/ce for more information and to sign up. Host: Natalia Ocampo-PeΓ±uela Speaker #1: Hannah Waterhouse Title: Building Cover Cropping Communities of Practice on Californiaβs Central Coast Abstract: Californiaβs agricultural communities face the dual challenges of increasingly variable and limited irrigation water supplies, alongside persistent groundwater quality degradation from nitrate leaching that has imperiled drinking water for nearly one million residents of rural communities in the state. These challenges come together most acutely in Californiaβs Central Coast region, the βSalad Bowlβ of the U.S., where intensive, high-value vegetable and berry production dominates. The benefits provided by adding winter cover crops to these annual cropping systems are considered essential to improving groundwater quality, but perceptions among farmers and policymakers that cover crops consume too much water make a formidable barrier to adoption in this Mediterranean climate. Indeed, less than 5% of cropland on the Central Coast is cover cropped, with the majority left fallow over the winter season to devastating effects including erosion and loss of fertility, pollution of surface and groundwater, and flooded fields which can delay agronomic operations. In this research we address the question of how farmers in Mediterranean, semi-arid climatic regions can implement cover cropping in a water scarce environment while meeting water quality regulatory goals. Through both controlled trials and on-farm, participatory research, we aim to determine how different cover crop management practices affect the balance between water regulation and provisioning and water quality protection, as well as the supply of nitrogen (N) for cash crops. We have formed a
